Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated a base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation v/u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. The receiver has a pair of non-factory taps for mounting an optic, though none is present. There are also set of taps on the receiver for mounting an aperture sight, which also is not present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a checkered semi pistol grip, straight comb, checkered schnabel forend, and a serrated metal buttplate. The buttplate has lost most of it's finish and shows moderate handling wear. The furniture shows pressure dings, several nicks, and light scratches. There is a crack running from the upper tang. There is a small chip taken from the top of the butt, and another from the back left side of the forend. The LOP measures 13" from the face of the trigger to the butt. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with stubborn copper fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 65% of its original metal finish. The finish shows thinning, edge wear, scratches, and patina. The screw heads range from unmarred to lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are fairly clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Savage Model 99EG was manufactured in 1950 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Savage Arms, the Model 99 is one of the most innovative lever-action sporting rifles ever developed. Its hammerless action and rotary magazine allowed the safe use of pointed spitzer bullets, providing a ballistic advantage over traditional tubular-magazine lever actions. The EG configuration remains one of the most recognizable and desirable variants, featuring a solid frame, pistol grip stock, and classic sporting profile.
Chambered in .300 Savage with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle is paired with the cartridge that helped establish the Model 99's legendary reputation. The .300 Savage delivered near-.30-06 performance in a shorter case and later served as the foundation for the development of the .308 Winchester. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition with strong rifling. The action functions correctly.
