Sights/Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade integral to a base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a fully adjustable square notch pinned to the topstrap.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two piece smooth walnut panels with silver Ruger medallions. There is little to no handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. There is some stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. There is a crisp intermittent turn line on the cylinder. The action has light operational wear and carbon fouling. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Transfer bar safety. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: Ruger introduced the original .357 Magnum Blackhawk in 1955, offering shooters a robust, modernized single-action revolver with adjustable sights and styling inspired by the classic American frontier revolver. The New Model action replaced the earlier lockwork in 1973, adding Ruger’s transfer-bar safety system, loading-gate interlock, and durable coil springs. This allowed the revolver to be safely carried with all six chambers loaded while retaining the strength, balance, and straightforward handling that established the Blackhawk as a mainstay among hunters, outdoorsmen, and recreational shooters.
This 1989 New Model Blackhawk is configured with a 6 1/2" barrel, adjustable sights, smooth walnut grips, and a traditional blued finish. It retains about 98% of its original finish, showing only a light cylinder turn line, minor operational wear, and some carbon fouling. The grips remain in Excellent condition, and the bright 9/10 bore retains sharp rifling despite some stubborn fouling. Chambered in .357 Magnum and also capable of using .38 Special ammunition, this well-preserved revolver offers classic single-action handling with the strength and safety features of Ruger’s New Model design.
