Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC, ILION, MADE IN U.S.A” with a series of patents and “.30-06 SPRG.”. The left side of the barrel is marked “UPR” and “89” with a proof. The right side of the barrel is marked with a series of proofs. The left side of the receiver is marked “Remington / 364919”, “Woodsmaster / MODEL 742”.

Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a beaded blade front sight dovetailed to a serrated ramp screwed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch elevator sight dovetailed and pinned to a base fixed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is mounted with a claw mount rail fitted with a Weaver K4 60-B with a Fine Crosshair Reticle. The sight picture is clear. There are minor scratches on the glass. The scope displays modest handling wear. Overall the scope rates in Very Good condition.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The two-piece stocks are ‘basket weave’ walnut with ebony tipped forend, capped pistol grip, fluted monte carlo comb with cheek piece, sling studs front and rear, and a checkered Remington hard rubber buttplate. There are light handling marks. There are compressions, scratches, and a few nicks. There are no notable chips or cracks. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some stubborn fouling present. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is light operational wear and light handling wear. The screw heads are sharp. There is thinning on the leading edges and muzzle as well as scattered scratches, primarily around the magwell. The pinheads are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with 2x 4 round magazines and one 10 round magazine, all in Fine-Excellent condition.
