Sights/Optics: The front and rear sights have been removed, the empty dovetail slot for the rear sight remains. A Redfield scope base is mounted to the receiver ready for your choice of optic, though none is present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered aluminum Remington buttplate. The buttplate has moderate handling wear. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is lightly worn. There is light erosion scattered throughout the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its original metal finish. The finish shows thinning, patina at the muzzle, and light freckling throughout. The screw heads show faint tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Remington Model 722 was manufactured in 1950 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Remington, the Model 722 was introduced in 1948 as part of Remington's new line of bolt-action sporting rifles and served as the direct predecessor to the legendary Model 700. Known for its strong action and excellent accuracy potential, the 722 quickly earned a favorable reputation among hunters and shooters.

Chambered in .257 Roberts with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle is configured around one of the most respected classic hunting cartridges of the 20th century. The .257 Roberts is prized for its mild recoil, excellent accuracy, and effective performance on deer-sized game. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7 out of 10, showing moderate wear consistent with age and use. The action functions correctly.
