Sights/Optics: The front sight is beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated base screwed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable u-notch mounted to an angled base. There are 2-piece Leupold scope bases mounted atop the receiver.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece synthetic with a checkered semi-pistol grip, cheekpiece, checkered forend, and a synthetic Remington recoil pad. There is minimal wear other than a few small surface scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The stock rates in overall Fine Plus to Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This muzzleloader retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The finish shows only light surface scratches. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This muzzleloader presents in Fine Plus overall condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original finish. The metal surfaces are clean and evenly preserved with minimal handling evidence, and the stock maintains correct contours and finish. The rifle closely mirrors the familiar Model 700 centerfire profile, giving it a substantial, confidence inspiring feel uncommon among traditional muzzleloaders.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9.5 out of 10 with bright steel and strong rifling, indicating very light use. The action functions correctly, and the bolt operated ignition system provides consistent primer alignment and reliable firing. The 24"  barrel offers good velocity potential and balanced handling for a .50 caliber muzzleloader.

Historically, the Model 700 ML represented Remington's modern approach to muzzleloading during the 1990s, aimed at hunters seeking centerfire rifle ergonomics combined with black powder or substitute ignition. These rifles became popular for their accuracy, strength, and familiar handling characteristics.
