Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped base screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable u-notch sight assembly fixed to the barrel. The top of the receiver has two pairs of drilled, tapped, and filled holes.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one piece checkered deluxe with ebony capped pistol grip, reinforcement pin, monte-carlo comb with cheek piece, checkered hard rubber buttplate, sling studs front and rear, and ebony tipped forend. The LOP measures approximately 13 1/4" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The checkering is crisp with faint peak wear. There are no chips or cracks. There are a few minor handling marks. The stock rates in Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. There are a few faint handling marks. There is a small surface scratch on the left side of the barrel near the muzzle end. The markings are clear. The screwheads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Remington Model 700 BDL, manufactured in 1977, reflects the mature expression of Remington’s flagship bolt action during a period when the Model 700 had firmly established itself as a benchmark for accuracy and reliability. Chambered in .17 Remington and fitted with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle represents the high velocity small caliber trend of the 1970s, when the .17 Rem gained popularity for its flat trajectory and precision on varmints and predators. The deluxe BDL configuration, with its Monte Carlo stock, ebony accents, and hinged floorplate, captures the refined sporting aesthetic Remington was known for in this era.

Condition is a standout feature, with the rifle retaining approximately 99 percent of its original blue finish and showing only faint handling marks. The checkered walnut stock remains crisp and well preserved, and the bore is bright with sharp rifling. Factory iron sights remain in place, the receiver is properly drilled and tapped, and the action functions correctly. Overall, this is a high quality, well cared for example of a late 1970s Model 700 BDL in a desirable chambering.
