Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is a Marbles u-notch adjustable for elevation dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has some old marks under the current finish. The furniture shows moderate wear with pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches scattered throughout. There are two cracks at the heel of the stock and a chip at the top of the butt. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The furniture rates in Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There are a several small patches of erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows only faint operational wear and a few very minor surface blemishes. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This prewar Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1938 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the height of prewar sporting rifle production, the Model 63 was one of Winchester's most successful semi-automatic rimfire designs. By the late 1930s, the model had firmly established itself as a dependable and smooth-cycling small game rifle.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle reflects the classic sporting configuration of the period. This example retains approximately 99% of its nonoriginal bluing and features matching numbered parts. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 7 out of 10, showing moderate wear consistent with age and use. The action functions correctly.
