Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. There is no rear sight. A Noske 4x scope is mounted to the barrel via two dovetail slots. The scope was refinished. The glass is a bit foggy, the scope rates in Fair condition.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The refinished furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has only a coupled small scratches. The furniture shows a few minor pressure dings and some old blemishes under the current finish. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock has a little play. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. Some of the compound used to refinish the gun discolored the bore closest to the muzzle. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its nonoriginal metal finish. The finish shows only light edge wear and a few minor scratches. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This early Winchester Model 63 was manufactured in 1936 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the formative prewar years of Model 63 production, this rifle reflects the classic semi-automatic rimfire design that would become one of Winchester's most respected sporting arms.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this tube-fed semi-automatic rifle is fitted with a Noske scope, adding period-correct optical appeal and practical field capability. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10, indicating strong internal condition. The action functions correctly.
