Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight wrist grip, 17-rib forend, and a checkered synthetic Winchester buttplate. The buttplate has light wear. The furniture shows light pressure dings, a few drag lines, and some minor scratches. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is very faint erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of it's original finish. The finish shows light edge wear, faint freckling, and occasional surface scratches. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 62A was manufactured in 1941 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester during the final full year of prewar production, the Model 62A represented the improved evolution of the earlier Model 62. By 1941, the design had been refined and remained one of Winchester's most dependable slide-action rimfire rifles.

Chambered in .22 Short with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle reflects the classic gallery and small game configuration that made the Model 62A so popular. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10, indicating strong internal condition with well-defined rifling. The action functions correctly.

This rifle retains approximately 96% of its original finish, presenting an exceptionally clean example for its age. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition with minimal visible handling wear. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition and stands as a sharp 1941 Winchester Model 62A in .22 Short.
