Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, straight wrist grip,10-rib forend, and a checkered synthetic Winchester buttplate. The buttplate has light handling wear. The furniture shows a few light drag lines and pressure dings. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of it's original finish. The finish shows faint edge wear, a couple spots of faint freckling, and a few minor surface scratches. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This prewar Winchester Model 62 was manufactured in 1939 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 62 was introduced in 1932 as the successor to the Model 1906 and quickly became one of Winchester's finest slide-action rimfire rifles. Designed to chamber .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle interchangeably, the Model 62 offered outstanding versatility and smooth operation for hunters and recreational shooters alike. Prewar examples are especially sought after for their quality of manufacture.

Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 23 inch barrel, this rifle represents the classic pump-action sporting configuration. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10, indicating exceptional internal condition. The action functions correctly.

The furniture rates in Fine condition with little visible handling wear. This rifle retains approximately 95% of its original finish, presenting an exceptionally clean appearance for a prewar example. Included is the original serial matching factory box, a highly desirable accessory that significantly enhances the rifle's collector appeal. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine condition and stands as an outstanding 1939 Winchester Model 62 accompanied by its original matching box.
