Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded adjustable post and the rear sight is a u-notched sliding escalator marked from 1 to 10 and "n" for the battle position. A Weaver rail is mounted atop the receiver. Note that one of the screws on the right side on the mount have broken off. No optic is present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture consists of a wooden upper handguard, synthetic buttpad with three spacers, sling swivel in the left of the buttstock and finger grooves in the forend. The left side of the gas block has a sling ring. The bottom of the barrel has a provision for a spring bayonet that has been removed. There is a small piece of paper explaining the proper sight picture for this rifle at 50 yards. The wood shows moderate handling and operational marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 97% of its original metal finish. The finish shows some minor surface scratches and handling marks. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This pre-ban Factory 26 Type 56 SKS was manufactured in 1962 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced at China's renowned Factory 26 by Jianshe Machine Factory, the Type 56 SKS is one of the most recognizable military self-loading rifles of the Cold War. Factory 26 was the original Chinese arsenal to manufacture the SKS and remains the most sought-after producer among collectors. Early pre-ban examples are especially desirable due to their military heritage, quality of manufacture, and historical significance.
Chambered in 7.62x39mm with a 20.5 inch barrel, this rifle utilizes Simonov's robust short-stroke gas piston operating system and fixed 10-round magazine. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition with strong rifling. The action functions correctly.
