Sights/Optics: The front sight is a metal bead atop the ventilated rib. There is a mid-bead part way down the rib. The rib is serrated to reduce glare.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks have been sanded and refinished. The two piece wood furniture consists of a raised cheekpiece, checkered semi pistol grip, checkered forend, and a serrated synthetic Winchester buttpad. The buttpad is a nonoriginal replacement. The screws for the buttpad are too long and do not screw in far enough to hold the buttpad tight to the stock. The cap for the semi pistol grip has been nickeled. The wood shows some light drag lines. The LOP measures 13.5" from the face of the trigger to the rear of the butt. There is a crack running from the lower tang and one on each side of the rear of the forend. The furniture rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with light streaking. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 85% of its nonoriginal finish. The finish shows operational wear on the mag tube, edge wear, light scratches, and faint oxidation spots on top of the receiver. The screw heads range from unmarred to lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This pre-64 Winchester Model 12 was manufactured in 1961 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Introduced in 1912 by Winchester Repeating Arms, the Model 12 became known as "The Perfect Repeater" for its exceptionally smooth action, forged steel receiver, and outstanding reliability. This trap-style shotgun is meant to excel on the clay target range, optimized for rising targets. Pre-1964 Model 12s remain highly sought after for their craftsmanship and enduring reputation among collectors and competitive shooters.

In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The action functions correctly.

The buttpad is a non-original replacement, and the mounting screws are too long to draw the pad tightly against the stock. The semi-pistol grip cap has been nickel plated, further reflecting the shotgun's alterations. This firearm retains approximately 85% of its non-original finish, presenting well despite the refinishing work. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good condition and represents a solid pre-64 Winchester Model 12 in a trap configuration that offers the legendary handling and reliability of the Model 12 in a practical shooter configuration.
