Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. The receiver is grooved for an optic, though none is present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, 17 rib/notch forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear and has some oxidation located mainly towards the top edge. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches. Many of the blemishes are located on the right side of the stock near where it meets the buttplate. Most notably is a nick in the front of the semi-pistol grip. The forend shows almost no blemishes. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The receiver shows light freckling. There is light finish loss on the magazine tube from operation. The bolt shows light oxidation. The barrel shows finish loss where the forend rubs while cycling the action along with infrequent freckling. The screw heads show minimal tooling and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a superb, high condition example of Winchester's hammerless slide action rimfire, retaining approximately 98% of its original blue finish. The metal surfaces show deep, even color with slight evidence of handling, and the rifle retains matching numbered parts, reinforcing its originality and collector appeal. The stock and forend display clean lines and finish, giving the rifle a crisp, well cared for appearance that reflects careful ownership.

Mechanically, this rifle is outstanding. The bore rates a full 10 out of 10, bright with sharp rifling and no notable wear. The action functions correctly and delivers the smooth, refined pump stroke that made the Model 61 one of Winchester's most respected rimfire designs. The 24 " barrel provides a graceful sporting profile and an excellent sight radius, contributing to confident handling and accuracy.

As a 1958 production Model 61 with exceptional remaining finish, a perfect bore, and full matching numbers, this rifle stands as a premium example of Winchester's mid century rimfire craftsmanship and remains highly desirable to both collectors and shooters.
