This lot features a pair of bronze cowboy spurs manufactured by North & Judd Manufacturing Company of New Britain, Connecticut. The spurs display engraved decoration along the shanks and feature large multi-point rowels typical of early 20th century Western riding spurs. The heel bands are marked "Hercules Bronze," a material designation used by North & Judd for their bronze spur lines. These spurs are constructed in the classic Buermann-style pattern that remained popular among Western riders and working cowboys during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

North & Judd Mfg. Co. was established in New Britain, Connecticut in 1878, and registered its well known Anchor Brand trademark in 1879. The company became one of the major American manufacturers of equestrian hardware including bits, buckles, saddle hardware, and spurs. In 1926, North & Judd purchased the August Buermann Manufacturing Company of Newark, New Jersey, one of the largest spur manufacturers in the United States. After acquiring Buermann, North & Judd continued producing many of the established Buermann patterns alongside their own product lines.

August Buermann's company operated from 1868 to 1926 and was widely respected for producing English, military, Mexican, and cowboy style spurs. Buermann spurs were often marked with distinctive stamps such as a B over A within a star, "Pat'd Hand Forged Steel," "Star Steel Silver," and other trade markings. Following the acquisition, North & Judd continued producing spurs influenced by Buermann designs, including examples such as this Hercules Bronze pattern.

These spurs show age appropriate patina with clear engraving and well preserved rowels. The larger rowel pattern distinguishes this set from other Hercules Bronze variants and reflects a style often preferred for working ranch use. They represent an authentic example of early American manufactured Western spurs from a period when North & Judd carried forward the Buermann design tradition.
