Sights/Optics: The front sight is a post notched into a raised serrated base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable aperture with marks from 30 to 150.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece wood with a straight comb, smooth semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has moderate handling wear. The furniture has scattered pressure dings and minor scratches. The LOP measures 13.75" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is a small fleck of oxidation at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original finish. The finish shows edge wear, spots of thinning, scattered scratches, and other normal handling marks. The screw heads are lightly tooled and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This MAS Model 45 was manufactured between 1946 and 1948 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Etienne, the MAS 45 was developed as a military training rifle following World War II. Based on the German Mauser Model 45 training rifle produced at Oberndorf during the war, the MAS 45 combined Mauser styling with French manufacture and became the standard .22 LR training rifle for the French military. Today, these rifles are highly regarded for their excellent workmanship and accuracy.

Chambered in .22 Long Rifle with a 24 inch barrel, this bolt-action trainer is known for its smooth operation and precision. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8.5 out of 10, indicating strong internal condition with good rifling. The action functions correctly. Three magazines are included.
