Sights/Optics: The front sight is a bladed post in an angled slot which is adjustable for windage with two protective wings. The rear sight is a tangent U-notch leaf marked from 1 to 15.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a conversion semi-pistol grip, finger grooves, barrel band with bayonet lug, barrel band with sling loop, sling bar, sling well, 1972 Klienkaliber Schutzenfest tag around the forend, and a smooth metal buttplate. The buttplate has extensive finish loss with moderate handling wear. The furniture shows mostly pressure dings and drag lines. The LOP measures 12.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Fine condition as an antique.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 70% of its current metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, scratches, scattered patina, and a few dings on top of the receiver. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine condition as an antique.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Kleinkaliber Swiss Schmidt-Rubin 1889/11 is an Antique rifle originally manufactured in 1892 and later converted into a .22 Long Rifle training and target rifle. Built by the Swiss around the renowned Schmidt-Rubin straight-pull action, these conversions allowed military and civilian marksmen to train economically while retaining the handling characteristics of the full-power service rifle.
