Sights/Optics: The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed into a serrated base screwed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. There is a weaver base screwed into the top of the receiver. No optic is present.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight wrist grip, straight comb, smooth forend, and checkered synthetic buttplate. The buttplate has light handling wear. The furniture shows some minor pressure dings and scratches. There are marks on the forend where the sling has been rubbing. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13.25" from the face of the trigger to the butt. The furniture rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with faint fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 96% of its original metal finish. The finish shows spots of light surface oxidation and occasional scratches. The screw heads show little to no tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Marlin Original Golden-39M was manufactured in 1977 and represents the compact "Mountie" variant of Marlin's legendary Model 39 series. Manufactured by Marlin Firearms, the 39M combined the renowned reliability and smooth operation of the Golden 39-A with a handier 20 inch barrel, making it an excellent choice for field carry. The Model 39 family remains one of the longest continuously produced shoulder arms in American firearms history and is widely regarded as one of the finest lever-action rimfire designs ever made.
Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 20 inch barrel, this rifle offers exceptional versatility for target shooting, plinking, and small game hunting. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition with strong rifling. The action functions correctly.
