No hunting cabin or fishing lodge is complete without some finely made duck decoys, whether for use or simply decor. This Lot of 5 Vintage Carved & Painted Wood Mallard Drake & Hen Duck Decoys is in Good Condition, with a few of the duck’s heads, which are separate pieces attached to the bodies, remaining somewhat loose, some scattered nicks and small holes to some of the bodies and bottoms, and with some overall dusting and age wear evident. Most interestingly, they all measure about 14” x 5”, likely date to the ca. 1960s, and are constructed of heavy, solid wood with a variety of mallard duck, both male “drakes” and female “hens”, paint jobs of brown, green, gray, blue, and white. Three of the decoys boast metal “ballasts” along the bottoms to give them added weight and prevent them from tipping over when in use in the water, and three are also crudely hand signed with the artist’s initials, “MC”, in blue paint at the bottoms.
