Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade with a serrated face dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a "U"-notch semi-buckhorn elevator sight dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. The notch has a white diamond aiming reference and can be reversed to present a "V"-notch. The left and top of the receiver are factory drilled, tapped and filled for mounting receiver sights/optics, none present.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered American walnut with capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, Marlin checkered hard rubber buttplate, and Marlin "bullseye" in the belly. The stocks have some light nicks, scuffs and scratches, mostly around the rear of the buttstock. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has very faint wear with well defined checkering and lettering. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good-plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows faint operational wear and a few scattered minor marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Fine-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

This rifle was made in 1998 and sports the highly respected "JM" barrel proof, indicating manufacture in Marlin's North Haven, Connecticut facility before the Remington acquisition that many aficionados feel marked the end of the company's golden era.
