Sights/ Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade dovetailed fore-to-aft to a serrated ramped base, fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable square notch, pinned to the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is smooth wood. There are some light scratches and compressions. There are no chips or cracks. The bottom of the grip frame is notched for the included shoulder stock. There is minor tarnishing around the buttplate. The LOP measures 15 3/4" from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. The stock has a straight wrist, straight comb, brass buttplate, and sling ring below the wrist. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grip and stock rate in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates at a 10/10.

Overall Condition: The revolver retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong and complete throughout. There is a very faint turn line. There are a few minor handling marks. There is very light intermittent oxidation. There is faint thinning on the muzzle. There is minor corrosion on the brass around the wrist. There is minor freckling on the unfinished sides of the hammer. The screwheads are sharp and serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall, the revolver is in Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Uberti Cattleman was part of the resurgence of interest in classic single action revolvers that defined the American shooting scene during the 1970s. Founded by Aldo Uberti in Italy in 1959, the company became one of the leading manufacturers of historically styled firearms, producing faithful reproductions of the Colt Single Action Army pattern for shooters, collectors, and reenactors. Iver Johnson imported large numbers of Uberti Cattleman revolvers during this period, with factory ledger records documenting that Uberti manufactured more than 22,000 Cattleman revolvers for Iver Johnson between 1973 and 1978. These revolvers helped establish Uberti as one of the most respected names in the Italian single action market.

This 1975 Iver Johnson-imported Uberti Cattleman is an especially interesting configuration chambered in .44 Magnum with an extended 18" barrel and matching shoulder stock. The revolver retains approximately 97% of its original blue and case-colored finish, with strong markings, a bright 10/10 bore, and properly functioning action. The included stock, with brass buttplate and sling ring, gives this revolver the distinctive appearance of the historic stocked single actions and carbines of the American frontier era. Combining its uncommon configuration, excellent condition, and place in the history of the Italian single action revival, this is a standout Uberti Cattleman that should attract collectors of Western arms and classic revolver reproductions.
