Sights/Optics: The front sight is a pinned blade set in a raised base. The rear sight is a "U" notched blade attached to a fully adjustable sight ladder marked from "3-27". When flipped up separate notches and an aperture on the ladder can be used for sighting.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: This stock is a CMP replacement stock with stylized CMP cartouche. The two piece walnut stock has a raised handguard, pistol grip, metal nosecap with bayonet lug and stacking loop, barrel band, two sling loops, two through bolts and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage, nothing in the compartment. The furniture shows only some infrequent pressure dings and surface scratches. The LOP measures 13" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Fine condition.

Finish Originality: Arsenal refurbished

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There are some light spots of surface oxidation in the grooves of the rifling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its metal finish. The barrel finish is strong showing few blemishes. The trigger guard finish is very strong showing minimal blemishes. The floorplate shows moderate wear and is slightly discolored. The receiver shows thinning and has moderate wear. The lower barrel band shows moderate thinning. The upper barrel band shows mainly just edge wear. The screw heads show light to moderate tooling and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not shoot this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory Model 1903, serial number 1412013, was manufactured in 1932 during the interwar period when the M1903 remained the standard U.S. service rifle. By this stage, Springfield production reflected the fully refined pattern of the rifle that had served through World War I and would continue in training and specialized roles during World War II. The Model 1903 is widely regarded as one of the finest bolt action service rifles ever adopted by the United States, combining Mauser-derived strength with American manufacturing precision.

Chambered in .30-06 Springfield with a 24" barrel, this rifle is built around the cartridge that defined American military small arms for much of the 20th century. Adopted in 1906, the .30-06 Springfield became synonymous with U.S. service in two world wars. This example was rebarreled in 1944, reflecting wartime arsenal maintenance practices as rifles were updated and kept in service. The bore rates an excellent 9.5 out of 10, and the action functions correctly.

Approximately 90% of the arsenal-refurbished finish remains, presenting a strong and cohesive military appearance. The stock is a CMP replacement, and there may be additional smaller replacement parts consistent with typical arsenal overhaul and long service life. As a 1932 Springfield Armory M1903 with documented 1944 rebarrel and later service updates, this rifle stands as a representative example of a U.S. service arm maintained and modernized through the Second World War era.
