Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade integral to a serrated, ramped base screw-set to an in-line dovetail on the barrel. The rear sight is a rectangular open notch dovetailed to the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one-piece checkered red-brown synthetic. There are light handling marks throughout. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Fine-plus condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 90% of its original metal finish. There is light thinning and wear throughout from use. There are scratches and small nicks throughout, most notable on the left of the frame from the ejector. The screw head is tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Comes with two-piece yellow and maroon cardboard box with serial number hand-written on the end, warranty card, and parts list.

Our Assessment: The Hi-Standard Sentinel R-101 is a compact, lightweight double-/single-action revolver introduced in the 1950s and designed for reliable plinking, small game hunting, and general-purpose utility. It retains about 90% of its original blue and black alloy finish, the bore is excellent, the one-piece checkered composite grip is well-preserved, and mechanically, the revolver functions properly in both double- and single-action. Best of all, it comes complete with its original factory box and paperwork, which significantly adds to its collector appeal.
