Barrel Length: The 6 3/4” barrel has factory porting at the muzzle-end, with after-market porting on each side in front of the square chamber portion of the barrel. A plastic faux-weight (0.7 oz.) is installed on the barrel's bottom dovetail.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade integral to a serrated, ramped base screw-secured in an in-line dovetail at the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square-notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base dovetailed to the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are custom two-piece checkered wood with contoured thumb, trigger finger, and palm shelves for a right-handed shooter. There is residue on the left panel, likely from a competition inspection sticker. The grips show handling wear and some discoloration. There are scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition as not original to the gun.

Type of Finish: Blue & Black Alloy Slide

Finish Originality: Original, the slide is serial-matching. The slide, frame and barrel have 2023-dated German proof marks through their finish, the outside of the magazine well has a The Attic Imports import mark through the finish.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 92% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. There is handling wear in the grip areas left exposed by the installed grips. There are some minor nicks and tiny scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 10-round Hi-Standard magazine.

Our Assessment: High Standard had a long history of manufacturing target pistols going back to before WWII, so they had lots of time to perfect the design. Their line of pistols changed significantly throughout their history and they even moved their factory from Hamden to Hartford in 1977. This is a series O-101 Olympic made in 1958 in the Hamden factory. The Olympic model is less common than many other High Standards, making it a great piece to add to a collection. It should also still serve well as a target pistol as originally designed. This example even appears to have been overseas, likely for competition use in Germany based on the proof and import marks.
