Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 75% of its metal finish. There are moderate oxidation spots on the left side of the barrel. The screw heads show little to no marring and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this pistol rates in about Poor condition -see mechanics section.

Mechanics: The action DOES NOT function correctly. The double action trigger does not function and this gun is unfireable. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This compact derringer shows moderate exterior wear with approximately 75% of its original finish remaining. The metal surfaces display honest handling wear consistent with age, while the bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10 with bright steel and sharp rifling. Overall appearance reflects a well preserved barrel assembly despite finish loss elsewhere.

The action does not function correctly. The double action mechanism is inoperative, rendering the firearm unfireable in its current condition. No attempt should be made to chamber or fire live ammunition until proper function is restored and verified.

Historically, the DM-101 represents High Standard's mid twentieth century entry into the compact magnum derringer market, offering a powerful rimfire cartridge in a very small package. With a perfect bore but a non functioning action, this example should be evaluated as a project piece rather than a shooter.
