Sights / Optics: The gun is mounted with a metallic bead atop a full length vent-rib. The rib is finely checkered and the top of the receiver is serrated, both for the purpose of glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered select walnut with a grooved forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and a Browning basket weave rubber butt pad. The wood has a high gloss finish. There are no chips or cracks and the checkering is sharp. The LOP measures about 13 7/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. The pad shows no wear. Overall, the stocks rate in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable operational wear. The finish is strong and complete throughout. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Browning B-80 is a semi-automatic shotgun produced by FN Herstal in Portugal during a distinctive transitional period for Browning. It blends proven gas-operated reliability with refined European styling. Mechanically related to the Beretta 300 series, the B-80 employs a dependable short-stroke gas system and utilizes interchangeable Invector choke tubes, delivering soft recoil and versatility across upland fields, waterfowl blinds, and the clays course.

This example, manufactured in 1986, features a 22 inch vent rib barrel threaded for Invector chokes and currently fitted with an Improved Cylinder tube. It is chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells. The shotgun displays a rich, deep blue finish complemented by finely figured walnut with a high gloss presentation. Fit and finish are excellent, reflecting FN’s quality standards of the era. The bore is pristine, and the overall condition is superb, indicating minimal use and careful storage. The inclusion of the original serial matching box enhances both collectability and desirability.

Produced from 1981 through 1988, the B-80 had a relatively short production run, making well preserved examples increasingly sought after. This short barrel configuration offers lively handling and quick target acquisition. It shoulders naturally, balances well, and retains the refined feel that made the model popular with discerning shooters. This example appears to have spent much of its life carefully stored, presenting today as a high quality, lightly used Browning ready for the field or collection.
