Sights/Optics: The front sight is a bladed post set between two protective ears. The rear sight is an aperture tangent sight marked to 10.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood set with a forend cap & bayonet lug, barrel band with sling loop, finger grooves, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and a steel buttplate with storage compartment. The buttplate has moderate handling wear. The furniture shows pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches throughout. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with heavy copper fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The finish shows some scattered scuffs and scratches, but is largely intact. The screw heads are unmarred and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Fabrique Nationale Luxembourg Contract FN-49 was manufactured between 1950 and 1952 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Fabrique Nationale Herstal, the FN-49 (Model 1949) was one of the most influential military semi-automatic rifles of the postwar era. Designed by Dieudonne Saive, the FN-49 served as a transitional design between World War II battle rifles and later select-fire military arms such as the FN FAL. Luxembourg contract rifles are among the more desirable FN-49 variants due to their relatively limited production and high-quality manufacture.
Chambered in .30-06 Springfield with a 23.23 inch barrel, this rifle reflects the configuration adopted by the Luxembourg military. The .30-06 chambering offers excellent ballistic performance and remains one of the most respected full-power military cartridges ever fielded. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9 out of 10, indicating strong internal condition with well-defined rifling. The action functions correctly.
The furniture rates in Very Good condition with light handling wear and solid structure. This rifle retains approximately 95% of its original metal finish, presenting a very strong overall appearance for a military rifle of its age.
