Sights/Optics: The front sight is a winged blade mounted to the heat shield. The rear sight is a slider adjustable up to 1900 meters.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is one piece wood with a straight wrist grip, dropped comb, and a bare serrated butt. The butt has heavy wear and the serrations are worn smooth. The wood shows heavy wear with pressure, dings, scuffs, and scratches throughout. There is a crack on the left side of the butt. The furniture rates in Fair condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is not cleanable with the welded block in the receiver. As it sits, the bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There appears to be moderate to heavy erosion in the bore. The bore rates 5/10 in it's current state.
Overall Condition: This display piece retains about 70% of its finish. The paint has scattered oxidation spots, scuffs, and scratches. The markings are mostly gone or illegible. There is a notable bend in the right bipod leg. Overall, this piece rates in Fair condition.
Mechanics: This display piece does not function as there is no action. It was torch cut and demilled before reassembly, a block is welded where the internals would be.

Our Assessment: This demilled Portuguese Contract Danish Madsen Gamma Light Machine Gun is a non-functional display piece and is not a firearm. Originally manufactured by Dansk Rekylriffel Syndikat, the Madsen was the world's first commercially successful light machine gun and saw military service with dozens of nations during the first half of the 20th century. Portuguese-contract examples are particularly interesting as they reflect the widespread international adoption of the innovative Danish design. This example has been permanently demilitarized in accordance with ATF standards and is intended solely for historical display.
This display piece has been torch cut and demilled prior to reassembly. The original operating components have been removed, and a solid steel block has been welded into the receiver where the internal action would normally reside. As a result, the piece is completely non-functional and cannot be restored to operation in its current configuration. The bore cannot be properly inspected or cleaned due to the welded receiver block. In its current state, the bore rates 5 out of 10.
The furniture rates in Fair condition with handling wear consistent with age and display use. This display piece retains approximately 70% of its non-original spray-painted finish, exhibiting cosmetic wear throughout.
