Sights / Optics: The front sight is a rounded bladed fixed to the top of the slide extension. The rear sight is a “V” notch leaf dovetailed into the top of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered Type 1 horn panels. The grips have light handling wear with some scattered scuffing and a few nicks. The left panel is warped outward slightly. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued

Finish Originality: Original, numbered parts are matching.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some stubborn copper fouling on the lands. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates about 9 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 94% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at most edges. Most of the balance is minor surface oxidation, primarily in the grip areas. There are a few scattered minor marks. The action shows operational wear. The screw head is tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good-plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This is a Yugoslavian contract Model 1922 from Fabrique Nationale chambered in 9mm short. This contract was the origin of the Model 1922, an update to the earlier Model 1910 with a longer barrel, longer frame, and a lanyard ring. The model would go on to see fairly robust sales both in the military and commercial markets. This example was manufactured in the 1930’s for the Yugoslavian military and may have seen some use during WWII, though its condition would indicate that it has had a fairly gentle life. Retaining about 94% original finish and a strong bore, this pistol is in Very Good-plus condition and would make a terrific addition to a collection of early military automatic pistols.
