Barrel Length: 20", Round. The barrel has been replaced.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Marble Sheard brass beaded blade dovetailed to a checkered ramped base soldered to the barrel. The rear sight is a Marble's invertible u/U notch buckhorn sight dovetailed to the barrel. The top tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight, none present.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are 2-piece smooth wood with banded forend, straight grip, straight comb and steel carbine-style buttplate. The stocks display mild handling wear. There are two cracks on the front of the forend and one under the forend that stretched across the entire length. There are losses all around the wrist at the receiver and tangs. There is an empty sling stud hole in the belly of the buttstock. The LOP measures 12 7/8" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are scuffs and erosion on the heel and toe. The stocks and buttplate have been refinished. Overall, the stocks are in Fair condition as refinished.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 80% of its current metal finish. The balance of the finish is strong. There is thinning on the leading edges. There is erosion under the new finish throughout the receiver. The upper tang has been repaired. The action shoes standard operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Good condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. The action cycles smooth. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1892 was John Browning’s compact, smooth-handling successor to the Model 1873 pattern, built around Winchester’s shorter centerfire cartridges and prized for its quick action, trim receiver, and saddle-friendly proportions. Original Model 1892 carbines are strongly associated with turn-of-the-century ranch, trail, and field use, and the saddle ring carbine remains one of the most recognizable Winchester lever-action profiles. This 1930-made example carries that classic SRC form, though its present .357 Magnum chambering reflects later modification rather than factory-original configuration; the .357 Magnum was introduced in 1935 after this carbine was manufactured.
This carbine retains about 80% of its current refinished blue, with thinning on the edges and erosion visible beneath the new finish, most notably through the receiver. The replaced 20” round barrel has a bright, sharp 9/10 bore, and the action functions correctly with a crisp trigger. The refinished stocks show significant condition issues, including forend cracks, wrist losses, and an empty sling stud hole, placing them in Fair condition as refinished. While no longer an original-condition collector SRC, this Model 1892 offers the handling appeal of the classic Winchester carbine pattern with the practical draw of a .357 Magnum / .38 special conversion, making it an interesting shooter-grade example for the buyer who values usability and history.
