Sights/Optics: The front sight is a blade pinned into a base with a serrated face, fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable square-notch screwed into the slide.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece checkered wood panels. The left panel has a thumb shelf. The backstrap is serrated. The grips show a couple minor pressure dings and overall light handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in Very Good Plus condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is faint erosion at the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 90% of its original metal finish. The finish shows edge wear, light spots of oxidation, a couple minor dings, and finish loss around the grips. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Colt Woodsman Match Target 3rd Series qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm, having been manufactured between 1955 and 1969. Designed by John M. Browning and produced by Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company, the Woodsman had already established itself as one of America's premier target pistols by the time the Third Series was introduced. The Match Target variant represented the pinnacle of the line, featuring target sights, a heavy 6 inch barrel, and the superb accuracy and handling characteristics that made the Woodsman a favorite among competitive shooters and serious rimfire enthusiasts.
