Markings:
The left side of the slide is marked “COLT’S MK IV/SERIES ‘70 / GOVERNMENT MODEL / .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER” and features an adjacent Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the slide is marked “COLT’S GOVERNMENT MODEL”. The right side of the frame is marked “COLT PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.” along with serial number “70N87993”. The left side of the trigger guard is marked “D” and a blurred “VP” proof; the right side is marked “O”. The top of the chamber is marked “COLT .45 AUTO N.M. / MK.IV/SERIES ’70”. The slide, frame, and included magazine feature extensive, detailed foliate scroll engraving.

Sights / Optics:
The front sight is a blade with a ramped serrated rear face, fixed to the slide. The rear sight is an Eliason-marked adjustable square-notch sight dovetailed into the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition:
The grips are two-piece stag panels. These grips have no notable wear or damage, showing only minimal handling marks. No chips or cracks are present. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition, although they are not original to the pistol.

Finish Originality: Professionally refinished at time of engraving.

Bore Condition:
The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion. Bore rates at 10/10.

Overall Condition:
This pistol retains approximately 99% of its current finish. There are minor scuffs and handling marks, with slight operational wear. The engraving is crisp and professionally executed. Screw heads remain sharp. Markings remain clear and well-defined. Overall, this pistol rates in Fine-plus condition as a custom engraved firearm.

Mechanics:
The action functions correctly. The slide-to-frame fit is tight, with no noticeable play. The trigger is serrated, skeletonized, and breaks crisply. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
