Choke: Fixed Skeet over Skeet (**$/**$) on the 12 gauge barrels and 20 gauge tubes.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Bradley style white bead fixed to the rib. There is also a small white mid bead. The rib has checkering for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two-piece checkered high gloss walnut set. The stock is a semi pistol grip, fluted straight comb, and a Browning Vented rubber butt pad. The forend is a wide tapered finger shelf Superposed non removable forend. The length of pull is 14 3/8ths", the drop at comb is 1 3/8ths" and the drop at heel is 1 5/8ths". The shotgun weighs 7lbs 10 OZ. The wood shows compressions, surface level lines, and small rub marks scattered throughout. There are several nicks and chips around the forend iron and rear edge of the forend. The finish shows some minor crazing near some of the edges. I see no evidence of salt wood. The wood shows no cracks. The butt pad shows minor rub wear around the edges and is still semi-pliable. Overall, the furniture is in about Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Blued with gold toned trigger.

Finish Originality: Original.

Bore Condition: The smooth bores are very bright with barely visible plastic fouling and some minor lines from use with no erosion or pitting. The upper barrel has a notable scratch in the metal at about the 3 o'clock position. In this writer’s opinion the bores rate 9/10. The 20 gauge tubes are mirror bright showing no erosion or pitting. They appear to have had little to no use 10/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The leading edges of the muzzles, the bottom edges of the receiver and trigger guard as well as the trigger show finish thinning/loss. The barrels and receiver have some minor scattered handling marks. The finish shows scattered spots of surface rust freckling notably the left side of the barrel set and the right side of the receiver. The bottom barrel has the signature superposed rub mark from the forend. The upper tang shows rub wear from the safety. The inside of the action shows some minor rub wear from use. The pins are un-marred and the markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Very Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly including the ejectors. There is zero movement between the barrels and frame while in lock up. The safety does NOT set automatically when the action is opened but functions properly when manually set. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Browning Superposed Lightning Skeet was made in Belgium in 1969, representing one of the finest examples of John M. Browning's final firearm design. Introduced in the 1930s and hand-built at FN's factory in Liège, the Superposed quickly became one of the world's premier over-under shotguns, prized for its superb balance, craftsmanship, and longevity. This Lightning Skeet model is chambered in 12 gauge and features 28-inch barrels with fixed Skeet over Skeet chokes. The Belgian-made Superposed remains one of the most collectible production over-under shotguns ever built, admired for both its elegant styling and exceptional quality.

This example is stocked with beautifully figured, checkered high-gloss walnut furniture and retains the classic blued finish accented by a gold-toned trigger.
