Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, checkered semi-pistol grip, checkered forend, and a Decelerator synthetic buttpad. The buttpad shows light handling wear. The furniture shows a few minor pressure dings, drag lines, and surface scratches. The LOP measures 14.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. There are no chips or cracks. The furniture rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with light streaking. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The finish shows scratches mostly on the receiver, some rub marks from the forend, and other minor blemishes. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this shotgun rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Browning Double Automatic Twentyweight was manufactured in 1963 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic shotgun. Produced by Browning and manufactured by Fabrique Nationale Herstal in Belgium, the Double Automatic was one of John M. Browning's final firearm designs to reach production. Introduced in the 1950s, it featured a unique short-recoil operating system and an innovative two-shot loading arrangement that distinguished it from other semi-automatic shotguns of its era. The lightweight Twentyweight receiver made these shotguns especially desirable for field use.

Chambered for 12 Gauge 2.75 inch shells with a 26 inch barrel, this shotgun offers a lightweight, fast-handling platform well suited for upland hunting and sporting use. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10, indicating excellent internal condition. The action functions correctly.
