Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated, ramped blade integral to a base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the topstrap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth wood with black-on-silver Ruger medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blue and Black Alloy

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains 96% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered minor nicks and tiny scratches. There are a couple of more notable scratches on the left of the barrel. The action shows light operational wear including a thin turn-line on the cylinder. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Fine condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a two-piece black and yellow cardboard Ruger box with model-matching label and manual. The outside of the lid has an illegible hand-written serial number which doesn't appear to match the revolver.

Our Assessment: The Ruger Old Model Blackhawk in .357 Magnum represents a pivotal moment in mid-20th-century revolver development, combining classic single-action design with one of the most popular magnum handgun cartridges. As an Old Model revolver, it retains the traditional four-click hammer and pre-transfer-bar lockwork that many collectors and purists strongly prefer, not to mention the lack of a warning marking. In a 6.5 inch barrel, the .357 Magnum cartridge delivers good velocity and controllability, making it well suited for field use. This revolver’s bright bore and sharp rifling are indicative of careful ownership, and the strong remaining blue finish underscores its limited use over six decades. As an unconverted Old Model with original lockwork intact, it stands as a highly attractive example of Ruger's golden-era single-action revolvers and a noteworthy addition to any serious Ruger or magnum revolver collection.
