Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Trijicon blade with a tritium lamp dovetailed to the front of the slide. The lamp has dimmed significantly. The rear sight is a Novak square notch with two white dots dovetailed and screw-set to the rear of the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece half-textured laminate with Colt serpent logos. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, just a little stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9+/10
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 98% of its metal finish. The action shows very minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a blue plastic Colt case with serial-matching label, one 7-round stainless Colt magazine, and factory paperwork including manual and "stop-sign" hang-tag.
Our Assessment: The Colt Defender was developed as a compact, lightweight evolution of the classic 1911 platform, purpose-built for concealed carry while retaining the familiar controls and handling characteristics that made the Government Model famous. Featuring an aluminum alloy frame, shortened slide, and compact 3 inch bull barrel configuration, the Defender offered modern shooters a highly portable .45 ACP pistol without abandoning the traditional single action manual of arms. Chambered in .45 ACP, the cartridge introduced alongside the original M1911 and still regarded as one of the defining American defensive handgun rounds, the Defender blends classic Colt heritage with contemporary carry practicality.
The "Night Defender" was originally introduced in 2009 as a distributor exclusive for Talo. This 2015 produced example has textured laminate grips rather than the original grenade-checkered panels, but still has a Trijicon front sight, two-tone finish with blued slide and nickel alloy frame like the original Talo models. It remains in Excellent condition with strong original finish retention and only faint operational wear. Compact Colt Defenders have become increasingly appreciated among concealed carry enthusiasts and Colt collectors for their blend of traditional 1911 styling, reduced dimensions, and practical defensive capability.
