Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a white dot fixed to the front of the slide. The rear sight is an MMC square notch dovetailed to the rear of the slide. The sights are not original to the gun.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one piece checkered black rubber wraparound with silver-colored Colt medallions. The grip has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no rips or tears. The checkering is well defined. Overall, the grip is in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is some stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates about 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 94% of its metal finish. There are some scattered minor scuffs and rubs. There is an "idiot mark" under the slide stop on the left of the frame. The slide has some discoloration around the front sight. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads are tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun is in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a blue plastic Colt case with serial-matching labeled sleeve factory paperwork including manual, and a single 7-round nickel finish Colt magazine.
Our Assessment: The Colt Commander is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, and recoil-operated handgun based on the John M. Browning designed M1911. It was the first mass-produced pistol with an aluminum alloy frame and the first Colt pistol to be chambered in 9mm Parabellum. Colt made several variations of the Commander and offered it in .45 ACP and even in .38 Super chamberings. The Combat Commander eschewed the original alloy frame for a steel frame, giving it a little more weight to help tame recoil. This example is constructed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and was made in 1992 after the introduction of the Series 80 firing pin safety. The pistol shows signs of carry and operation, but should have many more years of use left in it. The inclusion of its original box would also make for a nice addition to a collection.
