A prime piece of early 20th-century firearms Americana from a short-lived but highly regarded manufacturer. This original wooden shipping crate was produced by The Meriden Fire Arms Company of Meriden, Connecticut, dating strictly between 1905 and 1918. Formed by Sears, Roebuck & Co. after purchasing the Andrew Fyrberg & Sons tool and gun plant, Meriden manufactured high-quality shotguns, rifles, and revolvers, making any surviving branded logistics ephemera like this box exceedingly rare.

Constructed using heavy-duty industrial wooden construction utilizing square-cut nailed corners. The lid includes raised support slats. One hinge has been replaced as well as the hasp replaced with a leather tab.

The crate is in excellent antique condition with magnificent display character. The wood has aged into a rich, deep amber-brown patina with honest historical wear, minor scuffs, and natural coloration variants consistent with its utilitarian purpose. The black stenciled lettering remains remarkably sharp and entirely legible. Structurally, the box is rock-solid with tight panels, sound construction.
