Sights / Optics: No provision for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a scope rail.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece textured synthetic with a semi-pistol grip, straight comb, serrated plastic BOYD buttplate, and sling studs front and rear. There are light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/4" from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. The stock rates in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. There is light intermittent surface oxidation. There is minor corrosion on the bolt. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp. There are a few scratches and minor nicks. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cocking handle can be used to manually lock the bolt in the open position. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: AMT's 22 Magnum Hunter was a purpose-built .22 WMR semi-automatic rifle introduced during the mid-1990s, combining the company's characteristic stainless-steel construction with a heavy, free-floating barrel and detachable 10-round magazine. Contemporary testing in the January 1996 American Rifleman emphasized its rugged construction, accuracy, and unusual operating system, which incorporated additional reciprocating mass to manage the more powerful .22 WMR cartridge. Factory references place Magnum Hunter production from 1995-1998, making it one of AMT's relatively short-lived rimfire rifle offerings.

This example, serial MR0694, retains about 95% of its original metal finish with scattered scratches, minor nicks, light surface oxidation, and some corrosion on the bolt. The synthetic stock remains in Excellent condition, the bore rates 9/10, and the action functions correctly, including the cocking-handle-operated bolt hold-open feature documented on the model. It also includes its factory box, manual, scope rail, and one 10-round stainless magazine. With its distinctive all-weather construction, limited production period, and unusually robust approach to the .22 Magnum autoloading rifle, this is an interesting example of one of AMT's less commonly encountered long guns.
