This is a lot of 41 rounds (1 partial box) of UMC .38 Short Colt Ammo in an Early 1900s Red Label Plaid Box. The box is in Fair Condition, with most of the red left end label having torn away long ago, moderate surface flaking to the middle of the top label, some upward bending to the back corners of the right end label, heavy tearing to the top front right corner of the bottom tray, some tearing and indenting to the top left corners of the bottom tray, and with moderate overall wear, especially to the plaid design. It’s a two piece box, and dates to the early 1900s by the “plaid” design and the fact that it’s marked “UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO.”, and thus predates their merger with Remington in 1912. The rounds remain in Good Condition, with some scattered patina, and are headstamped “U.M.C. / 38. SHORT.”.
