Sights/Optics: The front sight is a black serrated ramped blade fixed to the barrel. The Micro Sight Co. rear sight is a black square-notch in a base pinned to the flat top-strap and is adjustable for elevation and windage.
Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece smooth wood panels with Ruger medallions inset into either side. The panels shows some light pressure dings and surface scratches. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in about Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp with light fouling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This firearm retains about 95% of its original metal finish. The finish shows a light turn line, thinning on the left side of the muzzle, and some light surface scratches. There are a few minor dings in the butt of the grip frame. The loading gate has turned a shade of plum. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this firearm rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics: Each cylinder has just minor play at each stop. A transfer bar has NOT been installed. The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This 2nd-year Ruger Blackhawk was manufactured in 1957 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic firearm. Produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co., the original Blackhawk was introduced in 1956 to capitalize on the growing popularity of the then-new .44 Remington Magnum cartridge. Early "pre-warning" revolvers, manufactured before Ruger added the mandatory safety warning roll mark to the barrel, are especially sought after by collectors. Combined with the desirable three-screw action and flat-top frame, these second-year revolvers represent some of the most collectible variants of the original Blackhawk.
