Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade with a white dot fixed to the slide. The rear sight is a square notch with two white dots dovetailed to the rear of the slide. .

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is a one-piece checkered black rubber wraparound with Delta Elite medallions. The grip has a few scattered light marks, but no notable damage. The checkering is well defined. There are no rips or tears. Overall, the grip is in Fine-plus condition. Replacement hex-head grip screws.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original to the parts, the ambidextrous thumb-safety is an aftermarket part.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is a little stubborn fouling. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates about 9/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 80% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. The grip areas show handling wear. There is some minor erosion on the left of the slide toward the front, mostly scrubbed-out. There is infrequent other minor finish wear. There are a few light nicks and scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to lightly tool marked with strong sockets. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes in a maroon cardboard Colt box with serial-matching label, two-piece styrofoam insert, manual and one 8-round magazine.

Our Assessment: The Delta Elite was introduced in 1987 as a 10mm version of the 1911. The 1911 already had a following, of course, while the 10mm cartridge was popular as a result of Jeff Cooper's involvement in its development and use in the Bren-10. It has remained popular with fans of the 1911 and the 10mm cartridge ever since. This example was made in 1987, the first year of production, and is in Very Good condition. It retains about 80% of its metal finish with a good bore and strong mechanics, appearing to have seen normal use over the last 39 years. Whether you're a fan of 1911s, 10mm, or both, this is a neat example of a Delta Elite for the collector or shooter alike. Please see our photos and good luck!
