Sights / Optics: The front sight is a low profile blade integral to the slide. The rear sight is a “U” notch integral to the slide. The top of the slide has wavy serrations to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The one piece grip is brown checkered plastic that encloses the backstrap. There is crack at the top of the back strap. There is a crack on the bottom at the left of the lanyard loop. There are small cracks at the grip screw on each side. The grips are slightly flared at the front corners, common for this material. There are some light nicks, scuffs and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips. The grips rate in about Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original, numbers match.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some scattered light erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 87% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. There is some scattered light wear, mostly along the right of the slide. There is infrequent minor oxidation. There are a few light nicks and scratches. The action shows standard operational wear. The screw head is lightly tool marked with a strong slot. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a black leather flap holster and a total of two 7-round magazines, one flush-fit and the other with a pinky-extension floorplate. The flush-fit magazine is marked with a non-matching serial number.

Our Assessment: Walther’s original factory was located in Zella-Mehlis in the “Land” (state) of Thuringia. As that part of Germany was occupied by the Soviet Union following World War II, Walther fled to West Germany, where they established a new factory in Ulm. This is a .32 caliber Walther Model PPK made in 1941, made at the factory in Thuringia. It's a fairly uncommon variant as a wartime-commercial pistol. Once WWII kicked off, much of Germany's arms production capacity was given over to the war effort and comparatively few commercial PPKs were produced. The pistol is in Very Good condition with roughly 87% original finish remaining, strong mechanics, and a decent bore. Walther’s are known for their reliability, and this should give someone decades of shooting fun. That said, as a wartime-commercial, it would be a great addition to a Walther collection.
