Sights/Optics: The front sight is a short blade dovetailed to the slid, staked in place. The rear sight is a v-notch integral to the slide. The top of the slide has a thin, finely checkered rib.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece wood with vertical serrations. The wood shows scattered dings and scuffs from handling and operation. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There are a few scattered spots of light oxidation in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8+/10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 80% of its metal finish. There is light thinning in the finish, with edge wear and some scattered scratches. There is operational wear, most notable on the bottom of the slide. The screw head on the grips shows heavy tooling and may not be turnable. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This wartime pistol presents in Very Good overall condition, retaining approximately 80% of its original blued finish. The finish shows honest, even wear consistent with service use, and the pistol retains matching numbered parts, an important point of originality. Overall profile and markings are crisp for a 1941 production example.

Mechanically, the pistol is excellent. The bore rates 9 out of 10, showing bright steel and well defined rifling with light wear only. The action functions correctly with smooth cycling, proper lockup, and consistent trigger operation. Handling remains tight and predictable, reflecting the solid engineering of the P.37 design.

The P.37u was produced by Femaru for German forces following Hungary's alignment with the Axis powers, with pistols marked jhv for German acceptance. The slide legend and serial range identify this as a subvariation 4. These pistols were predominantly issued to the Luftwaffe, making them especially associated with German air force service during World War II.
