Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel bushing above the muzzle. The rear sight is a V-notch dovetailed to the top rear of the slide.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checked wood panels. The grips have even light minor wear with a few nicks and scuffs. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Very Good-FIne condition.

Type of Finish: Blue

Finish Originality: Original. The slide, frame, barrel and bushing are serial-matched.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright, the rifling is sharp. There is infrequent minor erosion in the bore, mostly at the muzzle-end. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 8+/10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 80% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. The most notable wear is on each side of the bushing. There is some wear along the top of the slide. There is infrequent other more minor wear. There is scattered light surface oxidation, a little more notable at the rear of the slide. There are scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. The action shows operational wear. The screw head is tool marked with a usableslot. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is a Heinrich Krieghoff hybrid leather and Presstoff holster, two 9-round waffenamt-marked magazines, a leather camera case with German eagle on the flap, vintage German Hapo 5 camera and USFET Form 33 listing both the pistol and camera, both listed by serial number.

Our Assessment: FN modified their Model 1910 pistol with a longer barrel and slide extension, and a larger frame and magazine, for sale to the Yugoslav military in 1922. It was also made for police and military contracts to several other countries in Europe. They were still in production when the Germans overran Belgium in 1940 and several hundred thousand were produced under occupation. This Model 1922 is one such variant made from 1941-1943 before a letter suffix was introduced to the serial number. The pistol is of particular interest to collectors due to the included accessories.

Most important is the Form 33 or "bring-back paper" dated Dec. 14, 1944 authorizing Corporal Paul Mahaney to retain as his personal property and/or mail to the US this pistol listed by serial number. Also listed by serial number is a Hans Porst Hapo 5 camera with Pronto shutter. Included with the camera is a leather carry case with locking clasp and German eagle on the flap. Also notable is the pistol's holster, produced by Heinrich Krieghoff with hybrid leather/Presstoff construction. The Krieghoff holsters are predominantly associated with the Luftwaffe and the holster's construction is uncommon, having Presstoff body and belt loop with a leather flap and magazine pouch. This is an excellent find for WWII collectors that is not only documented, but will make a wonderful display with the accessories. Please see our photos and good luck in your bidding!
