Markings: Winchester oval proof on the breech end of the barrel and top of the bolt. The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN U.S.A. WINCHESTER ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN.CONN.- PATENT PENDING-MODEL 37-STEELBILT--20 GA - WINCHESTER TRADEMARK - CHOKE - 2 3/4 CHAM.-”.  The buttplate is marked “WINCHESTER”.  

Barrel Length: 26”

Sights / Optics: Bead front sight. 

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The stocks are two piece smooth wood with semi-pistol grip, straight comb, checkered buttplate, and smooth wood forend.  The LOP measures 12 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stocks rate in about VeryGood overall condition. There are a few scratches, compressions, and nicks. The buttpad is still supple.

Bore Condition: The smoothbore is bright.  There is a small patch of erosion on the left side of the bore at the midlength.  In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.  

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is red paint still on the hammer slot for the Red Dot Safety. The screw heads are sharp with strong slots. The markings are crisp and legible.  Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics:  The action functions correctly.  We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Its design featured a steel receiver and a solid walnut stock, contributing to its durability.

Despite its discontinuation in 1963, the Winchester Model 37 remains a beloved firearm among shooting enthusiasts and collectors.
