Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded post dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, smooth forend, and a checkered metal buttplate. The buttplate shows light wear and a ding at the top edge. The stock shows very light wear with only a few minor blemishes. The LOP measures 13.25" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some freckling towards the muzzle end of the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The finish is strong only showing infrequent faint scratches. The screw heads have faint tooling marks and retain turnable slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This rifle presents in Excellent overall condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original bluing. The metal surfaces are deep and even with minimal handling evidence, and the rifle retains matching numbered parts, an important point of originality and collector appeal. The stock and fore end present cleanly with correct contours, giving the rifle a crisp, well preserved appearance typical of high quality late production Model 63 examples.

Mechanically, the rifle is excellent. The bore rates 9 out of 10, showing bright steel and well defined rifling with light wear only. The action functions correctly, cycling smoothly and reliably as intended. The 23" barrel provides a steady sight radius and balanced handling well suited to small game hunting and recreational shooting.

Historically, the Model 63 represents Winchester's refined hammerless semi automatic rimfire, produced during a period of mature postwar craftsmanship. A 1957 production example sits near the end of the model's run and benefits from decades of incremental improvements.
