Sights/Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable elevation u-notch dovetailed into the barrel. The receiver is grooved for an optic, though none is present.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is two piece wood with a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, 17 rib/notch forend, and a checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. The buttplate shows only faint wear. The furniture shows no notable blemishes other than two very small white marks at the toe. The LOP measures 13.5" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There are no chips or cracks. This furniture rates in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The only notable blemishes are light rub marks on the receiver from years inside the box. The screw heads are unmarred and retain strong slots. The markings are clear and complete. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine Plus to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 61 was manufactured in 1963 and qualifies as a Curio and Relic rifle. Produced by Winchester, the Model 61 is widely regarded as one of the finest pump-action rimfire rifles ever built. Introduced in 1932, it featured a hammerless action, exceptional machining, and the ability to chamber .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, making it one of Winchester's premier sporting rimfires. By 1963, production was nearing its end, adding appeal to late-production examples.

Chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle with a 24 inch barrel, this rifle represents the classic sporting configuration that made the Model 61 so popular. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates a perfect 10 out of 10, indicating exceptional internal condition. The action functions correctly.

The furniture rates in Excellent condition with minimal visible handling wear. This rifle retains approximately 98% of its original metal finish, presenting in exceptionally well-preserved condition. Included is the original serial matching factory box, a highly desirable accessory that significantly enhances the rifle's collector value. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine Plus to Excellent condition and stands as an outstanding late-production Winchester Model 61 complete with its matching box.
