Sights/Optics: The front sight is a Sheard brass beaded blade dovetailed into the barrel. The front sight bead is slightly bent. The rear sight is a two-leaf flip-up sight with wide V-notch and a shorter flat-top leaf with white triangle aiming reference, dovetailed into the barrel. The Lyman rear sight is bent and the leaves move freely. The top tang is drilled and tapped with a Lyman peep sight with a small folding aperture for more precise shooting.

Grip/Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are wood, the buttstock has a straight comb, semi-pistol grip, and checkered hard rubber Winchester buttplate. The buttplate shows heavy wear and most of the checkering is worn down. The furniture shows moderate wear with pressure dings, scuffs, and scratches throughout. The LOP measures 12 3/4" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. There is a crack running from the top of the stock where it meets the buttplate and nick in the stock just forward of the crack. This furniture rates in Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is grey and the rifling is worn. There is moderate erosion in the bore. In this writer's opinion, the bore rates 6/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 0% of its metal finish as it has either worn off or turned to patina. The finish shows scattered dings, scuffs, and old spots of oxidation. The screw heads are moderately tooled and retain fairly strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.

Mechanics: There is no tension on the magazine detent. Otherwise, the action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: This Expert Grade example presents the contoured stock shaping and refined profile that set these rifles apart from standard 1906 production, even as it shows the unmistakable wear of a century-old working gun. The slim 20" barrel keeps handling lively, while the exposed action bar, tubular magazine, and takedown receiver preserve the mechanical charm that made the Model 1906 a fixture in early American shooting.

This rifle now shows 0% of its original blue finish, the metal surfaces having worn down to a uniform, honest patina from long service and handling. Importantly, it retains matching numbered parts, preserving mechanical originality beneath the aged exterior. The action functions correctly, maintaining the smooth pump stroke characteristic of the model.

Produced in 1919, just after the First World War, this rifle comes from an era when Winchester pump-action rimfires were among the most widely used small-bore rifles in America. Their ability to chamber .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle made them remarkably versatile at a time when ammunition availability varied regionally. The Expert Grade models offered improved wood and more refined stock contours, appealing to shooters who wanted elevated craftsmanship on a proven, utilitarian design. Even with finish worn away, this rifle remains a compelling, mechanically intact representative of early 20th-century Winchester rimfire history, a true working rifle carrying more than a century of character.
