Sights / Optics: The front sight is a Marbles beaded blade pinned into an integral block base. The rear sight is a non factory Marbles u-notch elevator sight. The top tang is drilled, tapped, and filled for a tang sight, none present.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The tang recess is marked with a matching assembly number to the side of the lower tang "5784". The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with banded forend, capped pistol grip, straight comb and checkered Winchester hard rubber buttplate. The stock has been sanded and lightly refinished. The stocks have scattered nicks, scuffs and scratches. There is a light crack on the bottom of the wrist that has been touched up and is dark around the area with stain. There is oil darkening near the receiver. There are 4 heavier nicks on the right edge of the formed near the receiver. There are small losses around the wrist at the receiver. The LOP measures 13 1/4" from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall, the stocks are in about Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original. The barrel has an oval P proof. This Winchester barrel was installed outside of factory.
Bore Condition: The bore is gray and the rifling is distinct. There is very light erosion throughout. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 6/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 10% of its metal finish. The majority of the finish has worn to a patina. There are some notable dings and scratches in the receiver. There is evidence of cleaning on the receiver and parts of the barrel. There is a notable scrape on the barrel that has removed some of the finish. There is light erosion throughout which concentrates at the muzzle end of the barrel and magtube into fine pitting. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings range from clear to worn, but legible. Overall, this rifle is in Fair condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The rifle has a half-cock and a lever safety. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1894 is one of the great American lever-action rifles, and this 1917-production Saddle Ring Carbine has a very desirable combination of features. Chambered in .25-35 W.C.F., it represents one of Winchester’s classic smokeless-era sporting cartridges, favored for its mild recoil, flat trajectory for the period, and usefulness on small-to-medium game. The 20" carbine barrel, saddle ring, full-length magazine, and fast-handling lever action give it the classic Winchester carbine profile collectors love.
This example is especially attractive for its deluxe configuration, with checkered walnut stocks, capped pistol grip, matching stock/tang assembly number, and Winchester hard rubber buttplate. It has honest early 20th-century character, clear Winchester markings, a functional action, and a bore with distinct rifling. As a C&R-eligible Winchester Model 94 in a desirable chambering and deluxe saddle ring carbine configuration, this rifle should appeal to collectors, lever-action enthusiasts, and traditional Winchester shooters alike.
