Markings: The barrel is marked “22 SHORT-LONG OR LONG RIFLE” along with the Winchester proof marks. The left side of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PAT. JUNE 26.88. DEC.6.92. NOV. 27.06. MAY 30.1911 – MOD. 06.” The receiver and lower tang are marked with the serial number “438462.” Additional Winchester proof marks are visible on the barrel and receiver.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade. The rear sight is an adjustable V-notch semi-buckhorn leaf screwed to the barrel.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle has a straight grip walnut stock and ribbed walnut forend. The wood shows minor handling marks, with some light finish wear and a few small dings. The LOP measures 12 7/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the polymer buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: Tubular magazine, capacity dependent on cartridge length, in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling wear, edge thinning, and scattered small areas of oxidation. The screw heads are lightly tooled with serviceable slots. The pins are unmarred. The markings are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
